Bush is a Terrorist

Ok, so George W Bush is winning the election. Great. i am so happy. NOT!!!! The guy is a terrorist. and a religious one at that! He is a Christian and apparently senate meetings are often like bible study groups, he prays a lot as well. Obviously he is not listening to what God has to say to him because i do not believe that God would ever guide someone to tell blatant lies and drop bombs on innocent people. The business circles that the American government is involved in is amazing. Killing people never solved any problems, and if anything, i believe it is just going to cause more problems (i may have mentioned this before) because people will get angry and retaliate.

anyway, the point is that I believe that George W Bush is a terrorist himself. a google definition of a terrorist is: "One who utilizes the systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve political objectives, while disguised as a civilian non-combatant." this page analyses several definitions.
Bush has instructed people (the military) to drop bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq = violence; all the while claiming there were weapons of mass destruction, which there weren't = political objectives?; - they have them in America, right? so maybe the rest of the world should get up and arrest Bush. he acted against the UN's wishes in the first place anyway.

Even though Bush may have won the American election, in the global vote, (a virtual online election for all countries to participate in) Bush only got 9% of the vote. that hardly equates a win. If the rest of the world can see what an idiot he is, why can't america? It seems there may be a certain level of ignorance there - people believing what they are hearing and seeing rather than seeking the truth. It's absolutely ridiculous what is going on there, if you watch some documentaries on the situation - not only Fahrenheit 9/11 but other international productions such as 'The world according to Bush' and others, you will understand what i mean. Perhaps America would be better off following the Philippines lead and electing some random movie star to be their president - they definitely won't be worse off.

And as for George W Bush's Christian beliefs: commandment number 6: Thou shalt not kill. (Exodus 20:13) and the final commandment given: love the lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and love your neighbour as much as you love yourself. (Luke 10:27).

Well, it's been a while since i last published anything here. I do apologise to anyone who actually reads this....
Happy Halloween everyone!! last night we had a halloween party which i was one of the key organisers for, and MC. turnout was somewhat better than expected, but after the costume judging most people seemed to disappear which i do feel was a little rude. but, others had a ton of fun, karaoke, dancing, drinking, eating, laughing, dressing up. some people put in a really good effort - for students that was quite amazing.
Anyway, now it has to be back to the 6 assignments and 2 exams that i have 2 weeks to finish or prepare for.... but after that, 4 weeks yesterday i'm so outta here - with a qualification!!! i'm excited, bring on the real world!
Oh yeah, friday was fun too, went shopping with Helen, had pancakes for dinner then went to a salsa lesson. on the way home we dropped in at Marcel's and ended up going out for a couple of drinks. spontaneity is great!
This was a bit of a wasted effort but whatever, i'll get back to it once i have something to say...

TV and kids

I just read an article about some effects of kids watching too much TV. if you'd like to read it, you can find it here. I have always believed that TV was bad for a kids health, although this article only talks about medical effects, i also believe it has mental effects. not only do kids grow up too fast by going through puberty earlier, but i feel that kids grow up too fast as they are exposed to issues which their young minds (and bodies for that matter) are simply not ready for. they know about things at a much younger age then we ever did. i recall my high school days were the new students dressed in a way which was not suitable for their age or their maturity and i'm sure some people will agree with me that nowadays, it is so hard to estimate the age of kids on the street, and often, we are way off - we would guess 18-20 when they are in fact 14 or so. i do not believe it is right and feel that measures must be taken to ensure the mental and physical health of the new generation. biologically their bodies still age the same but now they put pressures on that process, and strain themselves in a way that could lead to serious problems in the future. And we don't want that, do we?

I think i need to calm down a bit. I tend to get rather opinionated about things. i suppose it doesn't help that i have been involved with controversial issues lately. well not exactly involved with but i was researching for my assignment and discovered that the IMF isn't the great saver of economies as it is made out to be, among other things. do a bit of research on Jeffrey Sachs and maybe you'll figure out what i'm talking about. also i just watched Fahrenheit 9/11 yesterday and balled my eyes out, it really was quite depressing and aggravating - Bush better lose this election! not that kerry may be much better. politics seems to be turning into a game rather than considering the benefits to the country as part of the global economy. you can't just concentrate on oil or making money, for the whole world to function properly, the people need to be able to function as they are what makes up the world, and we all need to work together so that we can all fend for ourselves. the ignorance and arrogance of some people just really gives me the shits.

the Australian Public votes again

So, another week of Australian Idol has passed. and Ricki-Lee is now gone! no way!! one of the best performers and singers on the show, gone.... but not for long, i do believe she will have a future in the music industry. well, what would i know. the only thing that this episode shows is that the australians like to keep the underdogs. anyway, i have nothing more to say.

What's with Howard???????

What the??? John Howard is prime minister of Australia again! i seriously think there is something wrong with Australians. this is just my personal view so don't get offended. the guy is trying to kiss George Bush's butt, obviously either Australia is getting more Americanised, or they want to get bombed by terrorists. If the Bush loses this time however, maybe there could be some benefits. i have never liked Howard, and now he's in for a 4th term (i think it's 4th, maybe 3rd....) and that's the second longest for Australia. i have another theory - Australians are very lazy or just plain scared of change. no excitement whatsoever.... come on people! Change is good! if things stay the same too long they're eventually gonna fall through the floor as someone will get bored and want to stir things up a little.

Ah well, i can rant and rave all i like, but seriously this does not concern me. i'm outta this country and going home at the end of the year, back to beautiful New Zealand. i really can't wait! only another 8 weeks....

Procrastination

So here I go again, procrastinating like crazy. i actually did do some work today, almost finished one assignment. before i went to dinner i pretty much only had about an hour or so of work to do. it has been almost 3 hours since dinner and i think i've written 2 sentences. i have also managed to talk to my lovely boyfriend on the phone for almost an hour, surf realestate on the net, sit in my friends room and do nothing, make some tea, stare at the computer and blog. it's been great. i think the motivation level slightly dropped when i discovered that the assignments i have due on monday are actually due on Tuesday. great. now i'm just going to write meaningless crap until i feel like working again. must finish assignment before going to sleep.... well, peak work hours for me are generally after 11pm. blah blah blah, lallalala, nothing on TV (moron elections), got a few videos but am doing quite well avoiding them. maybe reward if i finish... wish i had some more chocolate.

By the way, Happy 19th little Brother. don't work too hard (sarcasm, he never works hard... natural born genius)

might make some more tea now.

Monopoly

This game seriously monopolises your time! Last night i had to come to the conclusion that small businesses can survive a fair while in an almost monopoly situation. picture this: 5 players, of the last 2 left in the game, one owned the orange set with hotels and 2 stations, the other owned absolutely everything else - with hotels! and the game lasted 5 hours... so much for getting any work done, and there is no such thing as a quick game of monopoly. so now i have to suffer, with 2 assignments due on monday, and it is currently almost lunchtime on saturday. have i done anything? um, not really... so i better stop procrastinating on here and go do something!

Adultescents

I was reading an article in voyeur magazine on my recent flight back from melbourne which discussed a new marketing group known as adultescents. Now this group is said to be in there 20's to early 30's, have a job, maybe a relationship, like to have fun, spend all their money on the latest gadgets, and do not consider settling down as a priority. they also may still live at home and are one of the largest users and a major market for playstation. I thought this was a very interesting article, i'll see if i can find an online version or similar one.... try here (go to Products; Voyeur; October 2004 issue; Growing Pains).... any comments? Just another 'name that group' fad? it seems their is a trend to naming groups or rather 'markets'. by the way, i'm another management student and i do try to let my brother maintain the geek factor, so please don't get the wrong idea!

Pink....

Why is this site pink? I don't even really like pink. Why do people like pink? ok, so when i was really little you couldn't keep me away from it but for the last 10 years i've done my best to avoid it. I have to say though, the number of pink items in my collection are sadly increasing - in moderation though!
